Miller Time

12x16
Oil on Linen Board

On the West end of the Alligator River Bridge on Hwy 64 heading back to Columbia from East Lake is an old canal and dock that empties into the Alligator River. One morning on my way to Nags Head, I passed this old crabber while the crew was cranking her up to head out to pull pots. Later that afternoon as I was heading back home, I pulled over when I noticed the boat was back in and tied up for the evening - marking the end of a long day's work out on the sound. As the sun was setting and casting some really warm light on her cubby cabin and bow, I couldn't help to remember the old 1970's and 80's Miller Beer commercials that led off with a setting sun and a guy knocking off work while either elbowing his buddy or telling him on a CB radio that it was Miller Time!
