Perchin'

Oil on Linen Board
Plein Air

At the end of Grabtown Road in Indian Woods is Quitsna Landing - a makeshift boat ramp and fishing hole on the Roanoke River. As my dad used to say, I took a little ride to see what I could see. What I saw was this couple posted up on the bank to catch some late season white perch.  With their permission, I set up and blocked them in before the lady on the left heard something in the woods and sprinted to her car leaving her rod, chair and tackle box behind. She wouldn't come back out, so  her boyfriend finally gathered up all the gear, and they left. I'm not sure what she thought she heard but it got her moving lightning fast and she wouldn't even stick around to see the finished painting.
