It was Opening Day of Deer Season, and my son wanted to sit in a stand that afternoon. After I dropped him off, I wandered over to my brother's grain bins and set up in front our old John Deere Highboy sprayer that has seen better days. Recently it has been a good growing frame for honeysuckle vines and tall weeds as it sits quietly among some other rusty agricultural equipment.
As the sun inched lower and the deer began to come out in the fields, high powered rifles began going off everywhere. I felt as though I was plein air painting in the middle of a Kandahar fire fight.
