Oil on Canvas
If you know the feeling of inhaling through your nose on a crisp afternoon and catching the full aroma of freshly dug peanuts, then you know there is no other feeling like it in the world. For many in the rural flatlands of the South, it marks the true end of a hot muggy summer and the beginning of a cool beautiful fall.
Even though the color of his tractor has been artistically altered to make the painting, this is Mr. Bobby Eubanks digging peanuts in what is known as Orange's field in Grabtown, NC. Mr. Bobby is in his early seventies, I suppose, and on oxygen full time. Most would be confined to their homes, but this is only a mild inconvenience for this man as he still farms full time. With a few modifications to his pick-up and his tractor to house his tank, taking on the job of digging seventy five or so acres peanuts is no sweat.
