Mike Rooney (http://mikerooneystudios.blogspot.com/) conducted a small Plein Air workshop in Elizabeth City yesterday. All of us were on the waterfront just off of Riverside Ave aka Southern Avenue on the College of the Albemarle sailing campus. Mike and I were walking back to the parking lot across the street when he stopped and told me to look as he pointed over towards the old rusty buildings on Charles Creek. "Man I'd love to paint that", he said gazing not at the buildings but at the red car parked beside this old brick building at the foot of the Charles Creek bridge. He let me have it, so I set up on the sidewalk as the afternoon sun hit the corner.
