Ceviche Tonight

Oil on Linen

There are moments when a scene just captures the pure element of the subject, and it becomes a must to recreate in oil.  Yesterday, my old high school buddy and world renown angler, Carter Andrews, posted a picture of himself holding a huge bull gaffer dolphin caught in the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Chirigui in Panama. To me this was the one photo that did it for Carter and the bull too.

An avid and passionate  soul-fisherman, Carter has fished all over the world and was a regular on the Spanish Fly with his good friend Jose Wejebe. Carter has guided fly fishing clients regularly in Wyoming and the Bahamas and currently is the Directer of Fishing for Islas Secas Resort in Las Secas,  Archipelago, Panama ( http://www.islassecas.com/fishing/our-advantages/).  I am fortunate enough to see his many postings of his daily outings, and I have been wanting to paint one of these brilliantly colored fish for a while now.
