Anchored Down

24x30
Oil on Linen
SOLD

I saw these blow boats anchored down  the other morning. One had Old Glory waving from the sail rigging line as the others sat quietly in the background where the Tar and Pamlico Rivers meet. A short sail down river is Bath  where Edward Teach, after bribing a pardon from Governor Eden in Bertie County, set up shop with the local land Gentry and fronted up a legit existence until boredom forced him to pull his own anchor up and get back in the Atlantic.
