You either know this place or you don't. If you do, you've been in the Texas Inn, aka The T Room,  in the middle of the night after the bars closed with a bunch of screaming loud drunks chowing down cheesy westerns and bowls of chili. Imagine the late night scenes in the movie Diner - except everyone is juiced to the nines and ordering up classic old school food straight from the griddle behind the counter. Back in high school, this was the last stop before going through the gauntlet of Rivermont Road and VES Road in Lynchburg, Va. trying to sneak back on campus before the dorm masters started making their rounds in the morning.

With the juke box cranking out country western songs, patrons from truckers and bikers to college and high school kids created a deafening decibel level of incoherent conversation within the small confines of steaming grease and cigarette smoke. Combine this stench with with chili garlic and there was no way any teacher back at school could smell beer on the kid trying to get back to his dorm.

This landmark of Lynchburg has been in operation since the 1930's and is a must stop if ever in the city.
