I was going to name this painting Laguna Beach - Bertie County because I took these pictures early in the morning on a camping trip on the Albemarle Sound. My friend, Hosea Wilson, had his infamous 17 Laguna Sea Ray to pull the kids on the wake boards. Hosea always gets joked a bit about this boat and this time the joking extended to naming the campsite Laguna Beach which opened up the box for tons of parodies of Laguna Beach, CA.
Early in the morning at sunrise when everyone was still asleep in their tents or hammocks, I cranked up Chip Warren's stump knocker and snaked through the cypress trees that dot the shoreline of Bertie County's side of the Albemarle Sound near the mouth of Salmon Creek. I took several pictures while enjoying the serenity of just floating in the quiet shallows before the wind picked up. This was a shot looking back at Laguna Beach.
