The Line Up

Plein Air with a touch of Studio
Not For Sale

After a week it seemed of cloudy gray skies, the sun finally came out yesterday putting some serious glow on the clouds breaking over the Atlantic and the old cottages that line the beach road in Nags Head along Mile Post 13.  I set up on the second story porch of this structure that provides a great view of the line up that breaks on a bar just to the South.  This was built by Peter Rascoe, Sr. in 1932 and the cottage in the background used to be owned by Carolista Baum who led the charge back in the 1970's to preserve Jockeys Ridge forever as a state park. Thanks to her, these two cottages enjoy the beautiful view of the massive sand dunes to the West.
