One of the prettiest places on the Planet - Eden House. Originally home to North Carolina's first Colonial Governor, Charles Eden. One of the Governor's most famous accomplishments while in office was granting his buddy, Edward Teach aka Blackbeard, a pardon with the understanding that the corsair would lead a law abiding life on land. Captain Teach did so for a short while further south on the Pamlico in the town of Bath, but this lifestyle proved to be too boring, and Blackbeard was back at sea. The rest is history.
Legend has it that Blackbeard had a secret meeting with Gov. Eden right here to secure his pardon and pay homage to King George's Lord Proprietor. Now the only secret meetings conducted here are at night to flounder gig the shoreline.
