Once again the Speller Farm provided good Fall subject matter to paint in the cool November air. Peanuts have been picked, and this old smoke house / barn stands guard over an empty field for the Winter months ahead. As the path snakes around the edge and to the highway, the sun slowly begins its descent behind the Roanoke River casting warm light on autumn colored trees.

Landowner Rascoe Bond Gillam drove up to feed his horses as we were painting. I told him that he had become quite the art culture provider having all these artists at his farm all the time. He replied with a grin, " I am known to be a Renaissance Man".
